Elizabeth Regan

Telluride Lodge BOD Candidate

I am interested in volunteering for the Board of Directors because I am happy to have purchased a home in the community and love being here in Telluride.

I am a part-time resident after buying Unit 505 in 2017. I still work full-time, but one blessing of the pandemic is that it is now easy for me to work remotely – so I do, and Telluride is the best for that.

I am a physician-researcher at National Jewish Health in Denver doing clinical research in a variety of areas including COPD, adrenal insufficiency, arthritis and osteoporosis. The common thread for all of these is chronic disease epidemiology. As a result of that background, I had the pleasure of working with Joel Lee and a wonderful group of scientists in Telluride to provide advice on managing our response to the pandemic. This is a great community to work with and for.

I am originally from Massachusetts but came to Denver in 1981 to do my orthopedic residency. I practiced orthopedic surgery in Denver from 1985 – 2005. I transitioned to research, doing a PhD program at CU that I completed in 2006 and have been at National Jewish since 2006. I have two daughters, Kate and Melissa who also love Telluride, and a Corgi grand-dog named Nora Ruth. We are all avid skiers, hikers and climbers along with my “ex” George Lowe (another TL regular).

Relevant experience:

Financial Planning committee for Golden community HOA x 3years

Real Estate review committee (for same) x 10 years

Physician manager of a primary care clinic x 3 years

Regional Chief of Orthopedics x 3 years

Currently, Principal Investigator for two NIH grants (managing science and >$2million funding)

Co-Investigator and Operations manager for major longitudinal research project with >$100 million of funding

As a Board member:

I would like to foster civility and community for all of us. It can be a difficult balance in a diverse community, but it is my experience that life is better when we resolve conflicts and find common ground. I also am very anxious that we do appropriate financial planning and manage finances prudently, and maintain our grounds and buildings well. I believe that all of these objectives enhance the value of our homes in Telluride Lodge.
